The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

In Britain 740 AD, the world of between the sorcerers and the shadows of evil are untold in history and now the faith of mankind is in the hands of powerful Merlin (James A. Stephens). That time, he told his secrets to his three apprentices namely Balthazar (Nicolas Cage), Veronica (Monica Bellucci) and Horvath (Alfred Molina) but he should have trusted only two. Morgana (Alice Krige), Merlin’s most deadliest enemy took over the secrets and spells, with the help of Horvath that betrayed Merlin and the other. Balthazar and Veronica witnessed the savage of the sorcery under the power of evil and so Morgana and Horvath. Morgana gained the dangerous spell known as “The Rising” giving any sorcerer the power to raise the dead and slay mankind. To stop the evil, Veronica sacrificed herself drawing Morgana’s soul into her own body but Morgana is too powerful and begun killing Veronica from the inside. But to save Veronica and capture Morgana, Balthazar trapped them both in a grimhole that no one could escape. Overtime, Balthazar fought many evil sorcerers who tried to free Morgana from the doll. To stop them, Balthazar also trapped them layer upon layer of the doll and eventually, he captured Horvath as well. Lying in death, Merlin gave Balthazar his Dragon ring saying that it will guide him to a child that will soon grow to be Merlin’s successor, the Prime Merlinian. The one who could only defeat Morgana once she escaped from the doll. And then, Balthazar search over time in different places just to end Morgana’s evil and to save mankind.

            In New York City, in the year 2000, there is young Dave (Jake Cherry), an ordinary boy who lives New York with his school friends and secretly had a crush in one of his classmate Becky (Peyton Roi List). It was a tour to New York where the Statue of Liberty is at view. Dave wrote a letter to Becky asking her if she want him to be her friend or girlfriend. Becky leave the note aside her when they were leaving the area. When Dave is picking up the letter, it went away by the wind and went through a store, Arcana Cabana. It was an ancient artefacts store, and owned by Balthazar. It was just a coincidence but the Dragon Ring chose Dave to be Merlin’s successor. Accidentally, Dave made Horvath escaped from the grimhole. But Balthazar alerted and had to fight Horvath again. Before Horvath escape with the grimhole, Balthazar let Dave escape and trapped them both inside an ancient jar.

            Ten years later, with a rainy day Dave (Jay Baruchel) is now a college student and eventually met Becky (Teresa Palmer) in his presentation in school. Becky didn’t like Dave of his physics thingy but rather music, as she is working in a radio station in an afternoon show in a college studio. Same as the old times, Dave really likes Becky at all. Apparently Horvath made to escape after ten years being trapped inside an antique jar with Balthazar. But Balthazar made to escape before Horvath broke the antique jar. Balthazar had to find his own place to hide and find Dave to teach him some magic. Horvath was the first one to find Dave from his place. Dave made an escape but Horvath is too powerful sorcerer but eventually Balthazar made the right timing to save Dave and escape. Dave was force again to agree with Balthazar for he is involved with his quest when the Dragon Ring chose him. But first, they must find the grimhole and secure it with them preventing Horvath to free Morgana.

            It was in China town as detected by Balthazar’s tracking device but there was also Horvath who first came and found the grimhole containing Morgana. But Horvath made Sun-Lok (Gregory Woo) escaped from the grimhole. He was an ally of Horvath and been defeated by Balthazar before but now he is taking all to fight again Balthazar and his apprentice, Dave. Fighting together, Dave made his first magic and with the help of Balthazar, they defeated Sun-Lok.

            Escaped from the dark side, Dave want to learn some more but Balthazar needs a place to teach him magic and to secure the grimhole from Horvath, somewhere he can’t be detected and no civilians at all. Dave’s hideout fits it, his place where he is conducting experiments and one of it is his tesla coils. Balthazar made a Merlin’s circle where Dave can focus, learn and practice spells. He better prepare himself before the time Morgana escape the grimhole. Apparently, while Dave is taking up his lessons in spells, Horvath find someone to help him because he knew that he can’t defeat Balthazar and took the grimhole with him with the Prime Merlinian on Balthazar’s side. So he found Drake Stone (Toby Kebbell), a magician and known to his unbelievable spells and magic.

            But Balthazar feared Dave to lose focus in learning spells because he knew that he was in love with Becky. It was destruction for a sorcerer because a sorcerer needs a full focus in magic and spells. Horvath is now preparing for The Rising as soon as he frees Morgana from the grimhole. He is desperate to free her but the grimhole was secured by Balthazar. But Horvath traced their hideout and steal the grimhole from Balthazar without Dave. But Dave catched the time and helped Balthazar to get back the grimhole and stop Horvath to free Morgana but Horvath and Drake escaped. But it was Balthazar who made them escaped because he fell in love to Morgana. He didn’t tell it to Dave because he didn’t want to lose focus in sorcery.

            And now Horvath is ready to free Morgana but before that he must first free another ally, Abigail Williams (Nicole Ehinger), a dark witch once attempted to free Morgana from Balthazar. But Horvath is too evil that he used the Parasite Spell that drains Drake’s energy and transfers it to him. He needed it to free the witch, Abigail and to use again the Parasite spell on her just to free Morgana. It needs a lot of energy to free the deadliest enemy of all sorcerers. Horvath use Abigail to kidnap Becky for an exchange of the power of the Prime Merlinian. Horvath took Merlin’s ring and the grimhole and ready to free Morgana and starts the spell, The Rising.

            Living with science, Dave and Becky try to stop the spell without the help of the ring and any magic. Morgana uses the satellite dishes around the park to transfer electromagnetic energy to make a spell circle to complete the The Rising spell. Dave asked Becky to move one of the satellite dishes to stop the spell while Dave is trying to stop Morgana for making spells. Becky was successful of doing it but Balthazar transferred the soul of Morgana to him but she made an escape in the form of a soul. Dave, without the ring fought Morgana to death, but being the Prime Merlinian, he is able to regain his magic and spells. He tried to combine the physics with magic before Morgana kill him. From his knowledge of science and a little bit of magic spells on his hand, he defeated Morgan.

            Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Jon Turteltaub, a very fantastic film with awesome effects and great story line satisfying the audience with the an adventurous action scenes together with the actors Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina and actresses Teresa Palmer and Monica Bellucci.

E-mail Spamming

Everyone knows about e-mails and everyone knows how to use it because it lessens the effort and time of human to communicate with others in a short period of time. Through a computer or any gadget that can browse the web in any e-mail interactive, you can use and manipulate messages here.

Before, scammers and bullies used to scare people through messaging forcing them to do what bullies want them to do. As they are in our generation, they also become more techie and become more desperate to use any way just to bully someone or scam someone, in no exact time and place. They will spam your e-mail inbox a lot of messages and forcing you to do something.

Chain e-mails are ordinary spam letters that you see sometimes in your mailbox or spam. When you go online in many different social networking sites, you also risking yourself for receiving a lot of unexpected letters usually spam or chain letters. Anyway, web is the biggest online or free gateway for all different persons with different intensions.

Senders of these letters also victim of another victim of another victim of a chain letter. This kind of letter urges you a lot of things but the most thing you might do with a chain e-mail is to forward it. You receive an e-mail, read the whole letter and come to think with something. This e-mail urges you to forward it because of the threat it gave to you. You are scared about the content you read and it forces you to do something. Forwarding this kind of letter is really a waste of time, but sometimes you wanted to forward it not because they threated you or scared you but it also depends on the content of the letter. There are times you just want to share something fresh or funny with your friends or you just wanted to spread the chain e-mail you received.

For busy persons who really don’t have any time for reading chain e-mails and forwarding it, they just delete it. Chain e-mails not just urges you to forward it but to delete it. People involved in internet, especially in an e-mail world really come for a business and they don’t want to take any deal with wasteful things. They don’t have any care for reading chain e-mails. They read it and they get mad and disappointed from the content. At first you just read the introduction of the letter but if you knew that it was just a chain e-mail, you move your cursor into the “delete” area on your screen and hit the left side of your mouse. That was the other chain e-mails urges you to do, delete it.

Cyber scammers and bullies don’t want any other businesses delaying their intension to scare and threaten people through their own way. Chain e-mails also urge you to reply and send some money to the sender. Bullies and scammers really are great story makers and have many reasons just to convince you to do what they want, usually to send them some money. Their chain letters are really persuasive for the readers that they can manipulate their readers not just to send them money but to do a lot of things.

Internet is the best way to do and invest good things but not bad things. There are persons really has the intension to do bad things through different ways so better to keep your guard high. Nevertheless, when you receive some chain e-mails, better to delete it or better to report about it.

What does a model need in order to be successful?

There are things you might consider in able to become a successful model. But, below are the basic things you must have on your own in able to enter this career.

1.       Good Looks. You will not become a successful model if you don’t have any good looks at people in public and that is true. You can’t even pass the application for being a model if you don’t have this. Every model has its own unique looks that were very pleasing to people around. Good looking person is the top requirement to be a model and for that, you can have your way to the top. There are lot of people wanted to be a model, good looking or not. But it’s really hard to become a model, even with those good looks in your body, some other person still don’t end with success. Modelling requires specific look for a specific fashion so organizers are looking not just with the good looks but the one who is suited for that specific fashion. That is why there are very lucky people that doesn’t have very good looks but has a successful career being a model. There are lot of good looking people in the world but the demand for modelling can’t sustain all the applicants. They are maybe gorgeous and hot, but sometimes they don’t just suit for this career. But for sure, good looks added some points to you when you want to become a successful model.

2.       Height. Being a model is like being a star. Models walk like gods and goddesses in catwalk with their head held high. The quality they have being a successful model are good looks and the height. Yes you were right, height is one of the top requirement to be a model especially for the girls. Height is very essential for a girl to evaluate everything in fashion. With the right height for the right fashion, you will make the people vow to you. They don’t just look up to you but they will look at you with a pride and proud because of the height you have. There are still other models that don’t have any height because they are fitted with those specific things for modelling. They are lucky enough to be a model making that so far without that height. But internationally, height is one of the assets a model must have in order to be successful. Good looks are degrading to others if you don’t have any height to fit for your looks. It is very proportion to have good looks in able to please the audience and the height for the proud and some point for.

3.       Stylish Clothes. When applying to be a model, good looks and height is not just the main requirements. You should also aware of the fashion trend in able to be in the flow of fashion. Being imaginative in what you are wearing will added you some points especially if it is unique and new and it fits you, you may now listed in the candidates for hall of fame. What you wear is what you feel, so be nice and good in combining elements in clothes. Being aware of the proportionality of clothes is important in able to fit the desired theme for fashion. From the upper body, down with the legs and foot wear, added with some accessories will make you more fabulous and good. There are geniuses when it comes in arranging these things, that’s why they are lucky to become a model. They don’t have any quality of good looks but the stylish wear made them a good looking person than any other models. But, imagine if you have the looks, the height, plus the ability to manipulate things you wear will surely help you become a successful model and opens a lot more opportunity for you.

Having these qualities in basic will help you make your way to the top in your model career. But these are just basic qualities and you will experience more difficulties in making your way. You will need to learn a lot more to become a successful model. Attitude and discipline are other basic qualities that you must have but there are other lessons you might not learn from yourself but through others and your experiences.

Baby Names: Where did they come from?

Couples have every problem what name should be given in their first baby. Some couples have already the idea what should be the name. They prepared it before the baby comes out so it will be easy for other processes. Some look over the ultrasound for the gender of the baby months before the baby comes out. Some baby names didn’t come from their parents but from other relatives, maybe from their grandparents or others.

Here in the Philippines, population growth is in a big percentage as babies born in many places every time. Filipino couples have their own unique way to think and secure the name of their babies. For instance, Leonardo Perez is the name of the father, the name of their baby boy will be, Leonardo Perez Jr. and the father’s name will be changed to Leonardo Perez Sr. just to do the equal thing. And for their grandson, Leonardo Perez III until they break the record of the longest name used in family clan. Filipinos want to lengthen their names for usage as a title of proud.

Filipinos are very environmental people that they do name their babies next to the nature. I have heard stories that couples name their babies after the name of the storm. When a storm is raging through the country minutes before their baby comes out, couples usually name them after the storm because of the unexceptional experience during the labor of the baby. From the storm Undoy that caused great disaster in some part of Manila, for sure that during its domination, some women are giving birth and surely name her baby after the storm Undoy afte it comes out.

For other Filipinos, they get their baby names after the name of their favourite actors and actresses. They idolize Piolo Pascual, they name their baby boy PIolo. They idolize Sharon Cuneta, they name their baby girl Sharon. Some used many names just like Dennis Lloyd from Dennis Trillo and John Lloyd Cruz, Kris Anne from Kris Aquino and Anne Curtis. In other cases, they also combine names just like Jerson from Jericho Rosales and Gerald Anderson.

Not just from actors and actresses, but from some other icons internationally like in sports like Rafael from the Grand Slam King Rafael Nadal, James from the Miami Heat star player Lebron James, Tigerwoods from the Fallen Golf God, Kobe from Los Angeles Lakers star player Kobe Bryant, or even from the World Boxing Champion and icon Manny Pacquiao.

They also get the names from characters in any movies and TV shows like Miho from the “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho”, Xavier from the character Charles Xavier or Professor X in the movie “X-Men”, Edward from the character Edward Cullen from the movie “Twilight”, Hannah from the character of Miley Cyrus in “Hannah Montannah” and even cartoon character like Taz for Tazmanian Devil in Looney Toons.

Before, baby names are usually repeated by syllables like Pot-pot, Lot-lot, Nene, Pepe, Toto, Mimi and other repeated names you usually heard around. Beastly

The story of the movie circles around a rich, good looking guy Kyle Kingston who became a beast with a hatchet face, face-ache, face like a burnt Lego because of his arrogance and boastfulness. Kendra who is rumoured to be a witch, curse him of his beastly form because of his attitude. Kyle must find someone will say the words “I love you” to break his curse and he just have a year to find someone to. Will he find someone to love him with that face and body? Will someone willing to open their hearts for a beast?

Alex Pettyfer in the role of Kyle Kingston is a candidate for the Green Committee presidency of the Buckston Academy High School. Kendra, Mary-Kate Olsen, was there on his speech but she walked out because of the boastful speech. Kendra warned Kyle for his attitude, that looks are important to him but Kyle doesn’t give any care about that.

On the election day, with the help of his girlfriend Sloan Alberts, played by Dakota Johnson and Trey Madison, who is Erik Knudsen, and because of his popularity, having a good looks, rich, and a famous dad Rob Kingston, Peter Krause, he got the position as well as Lindy Taylor, Vanessa Hudgens, who is running for Treasurer of the same Committee. A party was thrown for the celebration of the new president and on the party Kyle once again give a shot to Kendra, and that is the time she gave him the curse.

Rob and Kyle went to find for some solution but Kyle doesn’t want the act of his dad. So they had to leave the town and for Kyle, he had to leave also the school and his position of president. Kyle leaved a reason that he will go rehab. Rob provided Kyle a private residence, plus he also got his maid Zola, Lisagay Hamilton to help him for some chores. Rob also hired a teacher Mary Poppins so Kyle will able to study privately when his away from the school. It was a blind teacher who has a great sense of everything around him, best to be a tutor for Kyle.

On the first day night, Kyle went to a party, a costume party, were everyone attended, including Kendra, Sloan, Trey and Lindy. Once again, he beg Kendra to break the curse but she always refuse and tell Kyle to best find the girl before he run out of time and be a beast forever. Kyle search for Sloan and Trey and found them having sweet moments without the real Kyle. But, Lindy is still their adoring the arrogant good looking guy and talked some with him, the beast.

Kyle knew that it was Lindy who could help him to break his curse. He wanted to break the curse so he will risk everything just to make Lindy fall in love with him. But things got better when Lindy’s father, Roc Lafortune, have to save his daughter from his enemy and so Kyle take the chance and take Lindy to his residence. There, he took chances to buy her time and buy her a lot of girl’s but Lindy doesn’t like the way Kyle inviting her.

With a beast and ugly form, Kyle made her a friend and made steps to make her fall in love to him. But Lindy seems not to like Kyle as Hunter, a beast but still like the real Kyle. Kyle took the challenge and he won’t give up on her. The intension of breaking the curse was replaced of falling in love with Lindy, Kyle is in danger of falling in love on her. So he do sweet things, writing letters, going with her for a date, study with her, make a greenhouse to grow roses which Lindy like much and take her into a private recreational place but Lindy had to leave because of his father. But, still Lindy doesn’t say any word to Kyle even if they are falling from each other.

Lindy had to go to school and Hunter is running out of time. He once again begged Kendra to free him from his curse she gave, but Kendra refused. Kyle asked for the sight of his tutor Mary and to Zola to meet her children if he doesn’t succeed to break his curse, at least he cares for the others now. But Kendra had a better idea and will grant Kyle’s wish if he succeeded to free from the curse. So Hunter went to the school and confessed everything to Lindy. Lindy made the right time to say the words and free Hunter from his curse without knowing the history of him. Kyle was so proud that he breaks the curse, no, Lindy save him so Kyle tell her everything between him and Hunter. As he breaks the curse, Mary also gain sight and Zola had the chance to meet her children after years without seeing them.

Reading Magic

Reading Magic by Mem Fox has a good benefits to the children, in a way that reading aloud to the children in their early stage develops the ability of the child to learn how to read. And this somewhat related to Emergent Literacy and emergent literacy is based on the assumption that a child acquires some knowledge about language, reading and writing even before attending any formal  education. Developmental reading deals with theories of childs early stage of learning, his progress to fluency in oral language, reading and writing and the transfer of his home literacy to school literacy.

Reading aloud has such a powerful impact to the ability of the child to learn and to read. Through this, children learn to read and write. By doing this activity, the child would learn to read without being taught. The first literacy is created by the emotional sparks between a child, and a book.

             The foundations of learning to read are set down from the moment a child first hears the sound of people talking, the tones of songs, and the rhythms, repetitions of rhymes and stories. Reading aloud to children early in life also rapidly develops their speaking skills.

The best time to read aloud to a baby is the day it is born. Not doing so will lead them not settling down for a book. On the other hand, the right time of the day is whenever possible and as often as possible. Although these read aloud sessions can happen anytime, it is best  to do it before bedtime. There is no exact right way  of reading aloud, other than to try to be as expressive as possible. But reading aloud is in fact an art form in which the eyes and voice play important parts.

It is important to point out the significance of the illustrations in books for young children for the pictures tell a thousand words and help unlock the action of the story. It is important for children to be able to identify the most basic  sounds of the letters of the alphabet as well. And one way of doing it is encouraging them to try to write even when it’s only scribble, because trying to write is one of the fastest ways children teach themselves to read.

Reading is not all about being able to pronounce the words correctly but being able to make sense from the marks on the page, or making the print mean something. This is the first secret of reading. It is getting the message and comprehending. We can imprint a print by reading aloud to children even babies, by doing this, they will begin to understand and get the message from print.

               

If a person wants to read a language, it is necessary first to understand the language. The more we know about a language, the easier it is to read. We can increase children’s language experiences by chatting to them, providing them songs and rhythm because from these things they learn words, sentences, rhythm, rhyme, and repetition, all of which they’ll find later in the books they read. According to experts in literacy and child development, rhymes will be readers. It is important with younger children to repeat the same lively stories over and over again so the book language looses its strangeness and becomes familiar. Knowing as much as language as possible is the second secret of reading.

                The third secret of reading is our general knowledge, the more we know about life, the universe and everything , the easier it is to read. We can provide a great deal of information by the act of reading. When we read aloud to young children, they gain a vast amount of general knowledge. Understanding print, understanding language, and understanding how the world works, when these three secrets of reading come together, it is like inseparable friends, one assists the others.

                When a child experience difficulty in learning to read at school, our first impulse is to blame the child and that’s unfair. There is a group of puzzling children who don’t want to learn to read, these children may take their time learning to read but they do learn eventually. Sometimes when children can’t cut a word that they’re reading, they will look up for assistance. They must learn that looking at the words should provide the help they need. The more we read aloud a particular book to them before they read it themselves, the less they will look up for help.

                It’s unjust to lay blame on children when they fail to become readers. Anxiety should set in only when a child of eight can’t read. Pressure and a sense of failure are no help at all to learners. Whatever happens in the world of school, reading aloud to our children at home should solve most reading problems and will always be a lifeline to their happiness, their literacy, and their future.

The day before yesterday

Its month of June, obviously it is the start of school year for many teenies and kiddies. After a long wait for the start of the class and a different summer vacation in different places around the globe, the long wait is over. Students are excited to go to school but some are not and wished that they could extend their class vacation so they can spend a lot more time for something. But we don’t have to miss an opportunity to enhance are knowledge just to do and waste for something.

Before the start of the school year or the first day of classes, students are preparing themselves for school. They fix their notes, their pens, their bag, their books and their “abubot” or you so called make ups, etc. Of course they will make sure their clothes are ironed before going to school. Their shoes are shiny as the stars. Their perfume should be smell around 10 metres.

Students don’t forget these things, rarely forget these things. But, their always forgotten one thing before going to school, a lot of students always forget this thing, your identity, your I.D.. They don’t seem so nice if they forgot their I.D., rather they can’t enter their school without their I.D. on their neck or at their chest. Almost all school had a notice on their gate saying, “No I.D., No Entry”. Guards always have their eyes on that.

Students can’t go to school if they didn’t look so fabulous, or nice. Can you imagine a student wearing a uniform, with a black long hair that looks like he didn’t comb, nails are on length, and hairs are growing all around his face, looks like he is going to a prison camp. Every student, as to be look decent to others, has their responsibility to look clean and discipline, matching the real type of a student. I can’t even go to school without brushing my teeth.

Excitement is the one that top the feelings of a student the day before they go to school. Everyone feels it, but some are not or scared. For first timer in a new school, scared that they could not make friends. Same thing for the transferees, they are afraid with others. But I tell you that that is the first you may felt, but try to control the situation and be cool. Things aren’t going our way sometime but it’s fun to have those challenges. Just be nice to others and do you attitude and let yourself gain confidence.

Night before the day of classes, every student have their own activities. Sometimes in this time they are fixing their things for school. Setting their things in their bag, ironing clothes, polishing their shoes etc.. Sometimes they learn to sleep early this time, maybe 7 or 6 in the evening they are actually snoring in their beds. But some students, just like me, has the syndrome of excitement that we could almost feel they day that night before the start of classes. We almost forget the time and ended up to sleep very late at night, without doing anything.

Students have their own different things and techniques how to handle themselves before going to school. They don’t even need the assistance of their parents or yaya, or any other relatives. Every student believe they are in age, obviously at age were they are at the stage of learning, enhancing their knowledge and challenging their own selves.

HOW’S MY DRIVING?

Nag-aabang ako ng jeep papasok ng opisina. Umaga iyon mga 7:45 am. Nakatayo sa kanto, tingin ng mga sasakyan kaliwa’t kanan, wala naman, sabay tawid sa kabilang kanto kung saan naroon si waiting shed. Antay-antay ng konte sa jeep, nakakainip at nakakauhaw sa init kahit bagong ligo ko lang at presko. Mga ilang minuto pa ang lumipas ayan na ang sasakyan kong jeep. Ang daming tao, siksikan na naman. Siyempre pinili ko na yung pwestong maluwang-luwang. Sa gitna ako pumwesto para hindi gaanong malayo sa exit at sa driver. Sakto lang kung baga. Kapit konte at lalarga na si jeep.

Hindi pa ako bumubunot ng pamasahe, maya-maya pa siguro dahil naaaliw ako sa mga tanawin sa labas. Ang ganda talaga sa lugar naming kahit papaano. Nakakalingon pa ako sa bintana dahil medyo maluwag ang puwesto ko. Maya-maya ay huminto ang jeep. Alam kong may pasahero dahil naaninag ko na malayo pa. Halos karamihan naman ata sa mga pasahero habang nasa biyahe nakatingin sa dinadaanan ng sasakyan, siguro maikling porsyento lang. Mukhang maiipit na ako nito ah. Mapupuno na ang jeep. Larga na ulit ng makarami.

Nalibang yata ako sa paglingon ko sa bintana hindi na ako naka abot ng pamasahe ko. Sabi na nga ba masikip na eh, hindi na ako makabunot ng pamasahe sa bulsa ko. Napansin ko lang sa ibang pasahero hindi agad nagbabayad ng pamasahe, nalibang lang ako kakatingin sa bintana pero hindi ko ugali magpahuli ng bayad yung iba lang naman. Yung iba sinasabay sa ibang nagbabayad pero huli na din naman sya sa pagbabayad. Anyway, wala namang oras sa pagbabayad, wala akong sinabi. Heto pa siguro, yung ibang pasahero nagpapahuli ng bayad kasi baka sumakay bigla at makasabay nila si kumare at kumpare, ninong at ninang, at ayun para malibre kuno. Style nga naman ng pinoy, hindi pwede sa taxi yan oi. Inabot ko na yung pamasahe ko. P100 yung binigay ko sa driver kahit P11 lang yung pamasahe. Umaandar padin ang jeep.

Tahimik sa loob ng jeepney, mukhang seryoso mga tao. Siguro puyat at pagod lang sila dahil halos lahat ng nasa loob ng jeep ay mga workers din katulad ko, different professions nga lang, kaya yung iba nagkikipag-usap sa mga kakilala. Yung iba kamustahan lang din, meron din nag-uusap ng mga current issues pero madalng na mangyari ito, wala naman pakialam mga workers na pasahero sa current issues buti pa kung tungkol sa wage hike yan nagparty-party na mga yan. Minsan pa nga nagseselos din yung ibang driver, gusto din may kausap sila, basta kumpare nila naku parang may sabong sa loob ng jeep. Pero kapag kinuyog ka naman ng mga party people na pasahero na parang inarkila na nila yung jeep. Siksikan ang tropa, ang ingay for sure, lalo na pag gays, mao-OP ka talaga sa kanila. Medyo bumibilis na pagmamaneho ni Manong driver ah, kapit muna sa metal bar.

Maya-maya huminto na naman ang jeep, may pasahero again. Pagsakay ng pasahero larga kaagad, pero nakita ko nakatitig si Manong driver sa kasasakay na pasahero. Nagbayad yung kasasakay na pasahero, pero hindi tinanggap yung bayad. Kaya pala magkamag-anak ang loko, libre na daw pagganun. Naku kung alam ko lang ilang oras na nagaabang tong pasaherong ito, ilang jeep na lumagpas sa kanya pero hindi sumakay at desperadang inintay ang sasakyan ng kanyang kamag-anak para lang makalibre. Nakakatawa ang desperada, ako din malaki ang pangangailangan, need ko din magtipid. May kakilala ako, kasama ko sa work ko, ganyan ang gawain. Mag-aabang kahit isang oras para lang makalibre. Teka lang, malapit na akong bumaba. Wala pa din yung sukli ko. Busy daw kunwari si Manong driver.

Huminto saglit yung jeep para magbaba ng pasahero. Nabawasan ang tao sa loob. Sinubukan kong sabihin, “Yung sukli po ng wan-han-dred!”. Pero hindi ata suot ni Manong driver ang kanyang hearing aid. Dedma ang loko at binirit pa kunwari ang jeep. Konte nalang malapit na akong bumaba ng sasakyan, dedma padin si Manong. Naiinis na ako sa driver, nakatingin na sa yung ibang pasahero sakin, siguro iniisip nila na bingi din sa Manong driver? Baka naman tinatawanan ako sa isip-isip nga mga pasaherong ito? Baka kasabwat sila ni Manong driver at hati-hati daw sila sa sukli ko na ayaw ibigay? 30 meters. . .20 meters. . .10. . .9. . .8. . .5. . .3. . .”SA TABI LANG PO!”, ang lakas ng pagkakabigkas ko dun ha, siguro naman tagos sa hearing aid ni Manong driver yun. Late nako sa work, lagot na ako nito. Hindi pa ako bumaba at sumigaw ulit, “YUNG SUKLI PO NG WAN-HAN-DRED!!!!”, nakakainis pero parang binasag na ng tuluyan ng sigaw ko yung eardrum ni Manong. Natawa ako sa isip-isp ko dahil nakita ko si Manong dali-dali nagbilang ng sukli at inabot sa akin. Late na talaga ako kaya talon kaagad sa pesteng jeep na yon. Bumirit agad yung jeep, may pagkainis din ata sakin. Habang tumatakbo binilang ko yung sukli. Isang bente. . .isang bente. . .at isa pang bente. May barya, binilang ko din. Isang buong sampo. . .limang piso. . .piso. . .piso. . .piso. . .at isa pang piso. Napahinto ako at naiinis. Late nako, nilagay ko na sa bulsa ang (P100 – P11) = P79.

An early bird catches the early worm

Are you sick of getting up late in the morning? Always getting scolded with your boss on your work because you are always late in your schedules? Always staying outside the classroom of your first subject because you are always late? Try to make a little change in your schedules and attitudes. This may help you to get up early in the morning and not getting late on your work or classes. Some people just don’t know how to control themselves though getting up early in the morning is just a simple way to discipline you. These are some tips that I’d experienced and made a lot of changes on myself in getting up early in the morning.

1.       Don’t place your alarm around you. People don’t want some irritating noise when they are sleeping so they set their alarms with different tunes to wake them up. But some people do fall sleep very deep as they don’t notice their alarms ringing. But if you want to get up yourself early in the morning, best don’t place your alarms around you or in place you can reach it. So when the alarm rings, you can’t grab and get rid of it. When you place your alarm just a few meters around your bed and when it begins to ring, you’ll sure get up in your bed finding where you place you alarm clock. The time when you are looking for the alarm may help clear your mind and ease some illusions after you dream. It also helps you to stop going back on your bed after you cleared your mind. Some people set their alarm around them, but when the time it rings up, they just grab it and the sounds are done. But still they don’t get up on bed. Make this a habit and see the result on your own eyes.

2.       Get on your bed early in the night. Making a sweet dream during a deep sleep may be an effect of an early getting on your bed in the night. This is the basic tips for you to wake up early in the morning and make a lot of chores around. Learn how to finish your works around at night to make an early sleep in your bed. Things may be hard for you when you start this tip when you knew to yourself that your sleeping hours start late at night. If you want to get on your bed early, make it a quick lie when you feel you are sleepy. This will help you to fall asleep fast and in an early time at night. To make it a deep sleep, try fixing your bed as you desire to increase the relaxing theme around your bed. If you want to, try also counting some sheep in your imagination or listen some Opera sounds.

3.       Make someone a help. Asking someone to wake you up early in the morning is the best help you can have in the first thing. Make sure to choose a person that really woke up very early in the morning and who is willing to help you in that thing every working day. You are lucky if you have a lot of choice but much luckier if you make them in with the deal. Just give them something like a reward or an appreciation for their help for waking you up in the morning. Nevertheless, don’t make it a habit to let him/her do that chore every working day. If you felt the adjustment on your own, try stopping them from waking you up in the morning. The change on you will be a daily exercise.

4.       Make it a habit. Let everyone in the house know that you can now wake up yourself early in the morning without using any of those helps I mention. If you make it an exercise daily, you will have a great change in your schedules. Aside from not using others help, you can greatly do a lot of things as you get up on your bed early. Nevertheless, you are not like that of a busy person coming always late at work or at school. Make it a daily habit and you’ll see how an early bird catches the early worm.

Making things done may have used a lot of effort especially a lot of time. Be always at the time, but its best to be in before that time.

Study Hard

Most of us Filipino student knows how to go to school, but they don’t really know how to study, I mean “study”. Apparently there is a little part of the whole student population that are really “studying”, you know the nerds around the classroom, sometimes wearing those Noynoy Aquino’s glasses and always taking the front seat of all the lecture hours. Those are expected to have a lot of “blings” around their neck in the graduation day. But what the others students do? Are they really studying? Here are the list of some cases and reasons from reasons why some Filipino students failed at school many times.

1.       Money maker. Almost all of us have big financial problems. Each of different reasons and of different cases. Students who are always having their credits cards on hand may be more playful than studying. They always want to go shopping, go out of town with friends to treat, and a lot more. This will cause an enjoyment to a student and make it a habit. That will totally lose the whole focus in their studies. I know you can do a lot of things when you have that cash on you but if you know how to save them, for future purposes maybe that will be better and focusing on your studies is the best first thing you can do as your responsibilities as of a student.

2.       DOTA. Many of us know about this game, I’m also a fun of it but not like of those students who don’t go to their classes just to play DOTA or any other PC games, neither online or not. That is one of the problems in technology these days. They use to be a bad influence for most of us students. So if you want to get over it, make a move to yourself, make a change before you lose your career being a second-to-the-last ranker in your class and be the-last ranker.

3.       Facebook games. This are cases in some students especially girls. Making projects in the internet, researching something from the web and another tab for the facebook. You can always see that from each browser in an internet café. Learn how to finish things first, remember that an early bird catches the early worm. But if you have your own desktop at home, better to cut your connection and have at least an internet plug-ins so you can use it just as you needed it.

4.       Give-up person.This is the cancer of most students, being so lazy from studying. If they don’t catch up a single or two lessons, they quit. If they don’t understand the lessons, they quit. If they knew to themselves that they could still pass the subject, they quit for the lessons. If you want to get an A++ on your exams, you should learn how to focus on your own studies. Make a move through yourself not with the help of others. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, think curious.

5.       Juan Tamad the Second. A lot of students do know how to studies, I mean they really study but losing their interest in to learn more. They confident that they knew a lot from their lessons so they don’t focus much more on studies. This is some case on those who are fast-learner. They learn fast from their lessons so when it comes to lectures about those they already knew, they don’t have any interest in. I do felt this thing in some cases but I learned to have fun in these things so that I’ll not get bored either or lose interest.

6.       Athlete of the Year. Some students don’t go for the lessons and lectures; instead, they go for any athletic game like basketball, billiards etc. They don’t have any interest because they do love sports. Maybe they don’t just do know how to manage their spare time and get lose at school.

7.       Romantic Boy/Girl. Students who are in a circle of a relationship may cause a lot if they don’t know how to manage it in the whole thing. It may be a hindrance in some lessons and lectures because of your romantic style of expressing love. Don’t get obsess with it, try to manage things and save some time for the two of you.

8.       Internet Explorer. Students find their interest as the technology still paves its way today. They are more curious and want to navigate more around the web. But they don’t notice the effect of these things they do in the web in their studies. They sometimes lose their interest in lessons and lectures causing them, in bad cases, failed in school. But it internet world may be a good thing in giving information and data to students, but it seems that students who uses internet don’t have any interest in news, articles and informative files like tutorial videos.

9.       Texter and Chatter. This is some of the business under your desk, either behind your bag or books. Some students mix this up while studying or even during lectures and lessons. They find it fun when they exchange gossips live through texting or through chatting online or offline. These students don’t have any interest in certain lessons I guess but do have more interest on topic of their co-chattters and co-texters.

Students find interest in certain things as they learn more about them. They gain a lot of fun and interest with these things so they come across certain limits just like in studies. Sports can help boost physical abilities of a student but they should learn that academic skills should be a priority. A student should have a discipline not just in their studies but in all aspects as they learn and gain more things. This can be a help for them to gain focus and manage their time properly without leaving their studies behind. Make your studies a priority and feel the success in the future.

Robotic Students

In different schools and learning areas, a good relationship of teachers and students is hard to keep throughout the school year or a term. Many students are so difficult to understand for the teachers as they always naughty at classes and lectures, got no idea with the topics and titles, and many more. There are many things teachers do hate in their students in different ways. Some teachers don’t really hate things that other teachers do hate in their students, those are specific things. But, there are things they share the same hate because of their students. Sometimes teachers do prefer to have a robot as their student rather than a human student because they are much better and disciplined. Plus, they are better in many things and much knowledgeable. But, there are specific reasons a teacher might prefer robots as students.

1.       Quiet. Almost all teachers hate this act of student. Obviously, it’s really irritating to someone if you have kids making noises all the time around. Every teacher hates it, same as me. Teachers do have a long patience with kids but kids don’t care about it. If they don’t want the topic they go crazy and make some noise bringing the party in the school room. Same as those older students, before a teacher enters the class, the students is making up something that really irritates you. Those students have no respect at all, even if they have hundreds of record in the guidance office. Robots are not like them. They’ll answer you if you ask them. They’ll talk to you if you talk to them. They listen to you in the whole class hours and lectures. They don’t make any noise nor murmur or chatting. But nowadays, it’s an upside down situation; teachers are now robots but not any students.

2.       Know the Answer. If a teacher asks a student what is the answer in a question, a student might replies an answer or nothing. An answer but it likely falls in a 20-50 percentage if it is right and true. But bigger percentage, or likely a hundred, for those who really studies. Teachers want their students to learn and gain knowledge from their teaching and process. But a lot of teachers are becoming lazy in teaching because they’re student don’t want to participate in any recitation or activities during class hours and lectures. But it might fall to the same ending if your students always know the answers, why do you have to teach them if they already knew a lot better than you. Nevertheless, it is better to make some relationship in a class between the teacher and the student. Teacher ask some question and the students will answer to it correctly. But for a bad case, you might really need to replace some of your students with a robot. At least they know the answer, they already know things, and more knowledgeable than you.

3.       Retain Information. In general, it is the hardest part for a student to retain all topics and information until the end of the school year. Every student has different IQs and capacity in storing information and details in their mind. Teachers notice these things after some long examinations and quizzes. Some student, really excel only in participation but not in long term exams. There are rare students who can retain what they have learned in their mind ‘til the long term examinations. Teachers are happy to know if their students really learned a lot from their teaching. They got high scores in test, means they retain and learned things. But it’s always been a bad mood for teachers if they’re students doesn’t learn something throughout the school year. They might prefer a robo-student that can always retain information starting from the first day of school until the end. They have all things in their memory. They always have a perfect score in their tests. But a robot doesn’t have any feelings.
