EDSA Revolution - People Power Revolution - February 25



 

The People Power Revolution or also known as the EDSA Revolution and the Philippine Revolution of 1986 was a series of popular demonstrations in the Philippines that occurred in 1983-86.

These series shows how Filipino people are united against regime violence and electoral fraud of the government just for freedom.

This long time demonstration of the Filipino was became successful as former President Ferdinand Marcos was departed and lead the Philippines for the restoration of its democracy.

This is also called the Yellow Revolution as many yellow ribbons are present in these days. Former President Cory Aquino and his husband former Senator Benigno Aquino help and encourage the Filipino to free their country and claim its freedom and democracy.

On February 25, 2011 the Philippines celebrated the 25th anniversary of the People Power Revolution.


Kailangan ko ang tulong ninyo - P-NOY



Today, President Aquino urged the Filipino people to participate in the continuation of established patterns against the EDSA People Power Revolution.

The President made ​​the statement in conjunction with the ceremonial turn-over of 21,000 housing for soldiers in Trece Martirez, Cavite that is part of the commemoration of the anniversary of EDSA People Power.

From the past three administrations, P33 billion are jsut used for the AFP Modernization Program while in just over 17 months on the spot, under President Aquino's administration, P28 billion were already used.

At the same time, via video conference the President also made some communication and interaction in Cagayan de Oro City particularly the victims of Typhoon Sendong.

There will also be an EDSA celebration in part of Mindanao where it's initiated by EDSA People Power Commissioner Ogie Alcasid.

"Kailangan ko ang tulong ninyo para tapusin ang labang ito," said President Aquino.

$100-M available for the CCT - WB pres




World Bank Pres. Robert Zoellick again extended its support to the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program of the Aquino administration.


Pres. Zoellick met with President Benigno Aquino III to discuss the reform agenda of the administration.


Presidential Communications Sec. Ricky Carandang said today, World Bank sees that the CCT program was effective to lower the poverty rate in the country.


According to Carandang, Zoellick commited that $ 100 million was available to be borrowed by the government to finance the CCT.


During his visit to the country, Zoellick himself also visit the beneficiaries of CCT programs in poor areas in Metro Manila.

Destab attempt rumors are not alarming - Malacañang



Malacañang wants to monitor to intelligence community's alleged destabilization attempt against the Aquino administration.


We know that President Aquino himself said yesterday that he wants to monitor the rumored lowering of morale of the armies.


Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said, the information has arrive to them which used the deaths of 19 soldiers to stoke the emotions of the military.


According to Valte, the intelligence community has the responsibility to identify such groups and to know the ability to carry out the coup deta.


But Malacañang also abolished the fear to themselves and has the trust that any attempt against the administration will not be accomplished.


"There are those who wish to take advantage of the situation for political leverage. We are aware that there are efforts to do this ... They are trying to spread misinformation and trying to arouse emotions, "said Valte. "What we can confirm is that there are people who are trying to take advantage of the situation. Meanwhile,  the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also denied that there is no coup deta threats to administration.

I support electoral Sabotage vs Arroyo - Malacañang


Malacañang is hoping that the truth will reveal on the electoral sabotage faced by former President Gloria Arroyo and several other personalities.

Based on the recommendation of the DoJ-Comelec fact-finding panel, they wanted to file a sabotage case in election of Arroyo for allegedly deceiving the 2007 midterm elections.

Pampanga Rep. DOJ. Arroyo wanted to face the preliminary investigation something questioned by his camp.

Presidential Communications Sec. Ricky Carandang said, hope that it will clarify what really happened in the election.

According to Carandang, he does not yet seen the case so he cannot tell yet how strong Arroyo is and can be convicted .

"We hope this case will Eventually lead to the truth about what really happened During the election," says Carandang. "I have not yet seen the actual case."

Earlier, the camp of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is not surprised from the recommendation of the DoJ-Comelec fact finding committee

According to Atty. Raul Lambino, the spokesman for the former president, said they already expecting the results of the investigation, it led especially by Justice Secretary. Leila de Lima and Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes.

The lawyer also feared that the government will not be fair in  preliminary investigation against the former president.

SC decision will not void - P-Noy


The list of assigned officers-in-charge (OICs) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) are now on the process of approval.

President Benigno Aquino III said they will just finish the deal with the stakeholders name the selected OICs of the region.

According to the President, the people can hope that the soon to assigned officials had their integrity and ability to implement the necessary reforms in the ARMM.

Earlier, appreciation of President Aquino in favor of the Supreme Court after they agreed about the postponement of ARMM elections.

Petron Refienery discarded - P-Noy


Today, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III discarded the offer of Petron Corporation to sell to the government for their refinery in Limay, Bataan.

President said the government was not that effective to run a private business and it might loss only.

According to the President, the offer of  Petron was good but he believed that it will not lead to a any further good.

"As a general rule, and this is a public position that I've had since the time I've been in public service, the government is inefficient to run something that has a purely business applications," said President Aquino. "I do not think at this point in time it will be in the best interest to people if government were to re-run Petron in their refineries as far as operations are concerned."

Based on the statement of Petron on the Philippine Stock Exchange, they are ready ready to sell their plant to in Bataan to the government to produce comprehensive and lasting solution to the problem of oil supply and price.

"Having control of the Petroleum Refining largest assets in the country will place the government in a better position to develop and devise comprehensive and long-term programs and solutions. PNoy defended Italian priest killing


Today, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III assured that the government will not spare anyone because of the death of the Italian priest Fr. Faustino Tentorio.

We all know that it is involved in the leads of the involvement of paramilitary groups and other armed groups in North Cotabato.

It was believed that Fr. Tentorio is a sympathizer of the New People's Army (NPA) and an advocate against mining.

Postponement of ARMM Election


There is no illegal in postponement of elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and the dedication of the officer-in-charge in the region.

P72 Billion Stimulus Package - Pnoy


Today, P72 billion stimulus package formally launched by President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III as a defense to the effect of the global financial crisis.

At the press conference, the President said that P6.5 billion of LGU Support Fund, P5.5 billion for infrastructure, P4.5 billion for configuration of MRT and P1.868 billion for LRT improvement will come from this fund.

According to the President, there is a fund to be used for the relocation of illegal settlers in Metro Manila.

In summary, the intent of the stimulus package is expected to alleviate poverty and help achieve economic growth target of 5-6 percent.

The President also hope that it will reduce the  budget deficit this year.

He also said not to worry about global financial crisis, instead it will act as opportunities to grow and steady our economic situation.

"I have authorized additional expenditures of more than 72 billion pesos Between now and the end of the year. This spending will provide added stimulus to our economy. Included here is a support fund for LGUs, Which I announced yesterday. This will be worth and least 6.5 billion pesos, Which They can Spend on infrastructure development, poverty alleviation, and other programs that can help their respective communities Toward development, "said President Aquino.

Before launching such, some economists blamed about the government's frugality of funds that  now causes a slower economic growth of countries in the first half year than expected.

Palace vs. fiscal freedom


One ally of President Aquino in the Senate assured that Congress recognizes the fiscal autonomy of each government department.


Senate Finance Committee chairman Sen.. Franklin Drilon said, they recognize the rights of each constitutional bodies to manage its own funds but they will ensure they have the transparency so that it will not be abused.


"We will adhere to the constitutional provision grants Which fiscal autonomy to the constitutional bodies and at the same time provide for transparency in the budget so that we will know through a reporting system how the budget allocated to each agency is being spent," said Drilon.


Several government departments complain including the Supreme Court, Ombudsman, Civil Service Commission, Commission on Elections and Commission on Audit and in relation of  policies of the administration promoted to vest the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to control Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Their Fund (MPBF) for the purpose to not tp be abused.


In such policies, they provided only MPBF in time being able to recruit staff that will be appropriated by the funds.


But for such department, it is a sort of reduction of their funds that was said to be unconstitutional due to the interference of Malacañang in fiscal autonomy of each constitutional agencies.


Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Sen. . Joker Arroyo also opposed by the said such policies that violate the mandate of the Constitution for the fiscal indepence for every department of government.


Noticed that the judiciary alone takes P2 billion to contained in MPBF for unfilled positions.


So certainly some critics like Arroyo that others can do it as pork barrel of Malacañang.


Now legislators agreed to recognize the fiscal autonomy of each constitutional agencies, it also signal that the hostile attitude towards each other between Malacañang and the Supreme Court will end as of to issue about currency.

PNoy defended the gov't response to disaster


Today defended President Aquino government's response duringdisasters.

It is because of the criticize after the alleged slow government response and its lack of presence.

Toll Vat will be implemented on Saturday


Implementation of the 12 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) at tolls despite of the situation of our country because of calamities all around the regions of Luzon.

The implementation will be start on October 21, 2011 for all passers through toll gates going in and out of Metro Manila.However, it was defined by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Henares that the fares should not increase and also the prices of food when the VAT is implemented on Saturday.

Base on their computation, each mile will only impact 1.6 cents and just .04 percent for the amount of food. Kim Henares also said that if their will be an increase in any, that will be fraud and exploitation of the public. The VAT should not affect anything and that is will harm nothing.

Officials also added that only a temporary restraining order (TRO) of the Supreme Court may suspend the collection and the critics was wrong that President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III can hinder the collection of taxes.

In the assessment of BIR, the Philippines will earn P2.3-P3 billion per year when the VAT on tolls will be implented.

Henares also belittled the warning of possible outbreak of the constitutional crisis ifMalacañang insist on VAT implementation toll. Henares also said that failure to the Supreme Court decision could create a crisis in the constitution.

Gov. Tet Garcia - Safe after an Accident


Provincial Governor Tet Garcia was accidentally toppled by a branch of tree while roaming in the some areas.

It was reported that he was now safe but his driver is in fatal condition who was the one who have toppled by the tree.

According to Gov. Tet Garcia, they were roaming in the areas that was knocked by Typhoon Pedring and then accidentally toppled by a tree.

Meanwhile, the clearing operation in some streets which are blocked by some woods will continue.
